2023 Division 2A Boys Preview
πΆ "Ba de ya," πΆ
In the world of music, there are legendary bands that work together to create timeless records. Earth, Wind & Fire is one such band, and their iconic lyrics serve as a fitting backdrop for the journey we're about to embark on. Just as their harmonious collaboration led to unforgettable music, we're about to explore the collaborative efforts of Massachusetts high school cross-country athletes as they face the upcoming challenges and opportunities.
As a journalist and coach, the balancing act between objectivity and passion has taken time and careful consideration. In this D2A Boys Preview, I aim to provide an honest and comprehensive view of the road ahead.
The MIAA realignment has brought significant changes. Two-time defending All State Champions, Wakefield, and Middlesex powerhouse, Burlington, have moved to 2B, leaving us with new horizons to explore. This shift promises a new 2A XC individual Champion and Team, a blank canvas awaiting fresh strokes of brilliance.
Enter the newcomers, Walpole, who have dropped down to 1C. With a formidable team that includes the likes of #MyMainMan **Sean Kerin**, **Declan Cunningham**, and **Cole Bowden**, the Rebels are poised to make their mark. But they're not alone. The Wolverines, led by the legendary Ed Lyons, boast talents like **Max Farrah**, **Ben Methot**, **Greydon Gavin**, and **Tony Marri**, giving them a formidable presence in the competition. πββοΈπ
**Marblehead Senior Issac Gross** and his teammate **Will Cerrutti** are also ready to vie for top positions. Plymouth South may have dropped a division, but the Brilliant family ensures that their legacy lives on, now featuring **Noah Brilliant**. π
But perhaps the most exciting development is the legendary Brockton High School's entry into 2A. Coach Fildago continues to work his magic, and with **Aaron Corlette** leading the charge, history might be made as the Boxers aims for the podium. π₯
While the big schools make their presence felt, my heart is reserved for the small schools. It's not about the size but the heart of the champion, as exemplified by **Camden Foley** of Tantasqua. As he enters his senior year, keep an eye on him. πββοΈβ€οΈ
