Speed Classic 2022 (Small School) Review
The setting is the World Famous Reggie Lewis Center located in Boston, Massachusetts. The last three decades athletes state and region wide, travel to the facility seeking two things, (1) To Run Fast (2) Seeking Good Competition. Over the past weekend nothing changed, a new generation is carving their names in history and what’s more exciting WE ARE LIVE documenting it.
North Reading has the pieces clicking already, from the field to various events on the infield and oval on the boys and girls side. Let’s start with ladies first, the girls 4x200 with a strong performance with a 1:48.01. The relay is comprised of the Speed Classic Girls 55 Meter Winner Ava McIntyre 7.46 and 3rd in the Long Jump with 16-10 jump , her teammate Madison Vant winner of the Girls Long Jump 17-00.50 and 4th overall in the 55hH with a time of 9.28, my home girl Kayla Budny was 5th in the 55 herself with a 7.67 time and Giuliana Ligor was the winner in the girls 600 in a tactful win with a time of 1:38.81… Never mind Annaleslie Butler in the Distance ran 1:48.41 in the 600.
On the boys side My Athlete of the Meet Nathan Miller from North Reading is also my feel good story of the meet. Nathan first indoor season as a senior he has broken the school record and won the Speed Classic Small School Boys 300 Meters. What’s there not to like on the upside here… Gives me another opportunity to type LOOKOUT
Relay is ironic
4x400: Both Lunenberg Boys & Girls Win
4x200 Both North Reading Boys & Girls Win
Plymouth South High School quietly has been cracking out high level athletes most importantly high character. Big Shot out to the Coaching Staff year round they do an amazing job with their athletes and creating culture. Hurdle u isn’t a term that should be thrown around lightly. I can say that because what you know about Ella Grey, Katrina Sullivan and now The Travis Family and my home girl Cam.
Cam Travis the junior had an amazing day herself in the Speed Classic, first and foremost my home girl is the winner of the girls 55H with winning time of 8.62, but OFC because they have a right to use the term “Hurdle U”, lol. Cam wasn’t done for the day, I looked back on the line, and notice her in the 300 meters where she was 4th overall with a time of 44.20.
Finally in my race of the day boys 600 Meters didn’t disappoint. The Seniors brought it, salute to Evan Cherry from Littelton, who was doing the grunt work, for the first 400 meters, then the race begun between, Zach McClure of Lunenberg and Samuel Secor from Bromfield. In thee end in a tiiiiight very tight one, Secor secures the W.
Samuel Secor Bromfield 1:25.46
Zach MacClure Lunenberg 1:25.56
