Sean Dykens One of Thee Pillars of BPS XC Co-Captain16-18

Sean Dykens, a name synonymous with humility and ambition, was raised in a single-family home, a testament to his resilience. He faced challenges that unfortunately many youths encounter, yet emerged as the true leader he is today. Sean overcame these obstacles and etched a place in BPS XC History, OB History, and, most importantly, in the hearts of those who know him.

At 23 years old, Sean's journey is inspiring. He attended John D. O’Bryant and graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Major in Mathematics. Recently, he added another feather to his cap by graduating from Stonehill College with a Masters degree in Data Analytics.

Sean's athletic journey began during his freshman year at O’Bryant High School when he joined the track & field team. His foray into Cross Country happened during his sophomore year with BPS XC. As a first-year distance runner with promising times, Coach H recognized his potential and invited him to join the Cross Country team. Under Coach H's guidance, the team experienced a transformation, and Sean's journey reached new heights.

Sean's journey includes memorable moments like the Foss running camp and his first 5K race at Franklin Park. Throughout his high school career, he consistently improved his times, concluding with an impressive 17:33 5K in his senior year.

His collegiate journey was equally remarkable. He continued to excel in Cross Country, achieving a personal record of 29:16 in the 8K distance. Unfortunately, the pandemic disrupted sports, but Sean's determination never wavered.

Today, Sean works as a Paraprofessional in Boston Public Schools, contributing to his community. His educational journey also reached new heights as he completed his Masters in Data Analytics at Stonehill College. Sean's life is a testament to the belief that "Dreams are tangible goals," a principle instilled by Coach H from day one.

In the world of Boston Public Cross Country, Sean Dykens remains a pillar, inspiring others through his actions and merit. His story continues to motivate and uplift, reminding us all that with humility and determination, dreams can indeed become tangible goals.

As we reflect on Sean Dykens' remarkable journey in the world of Boston Public Cross Country, it becomes evident that his success is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the profound impact of Coach H's philosophy: "Strength is in the Pack."
